New! ISMAUK West Area Event.
The spring meeting of the West Region will take place on Saturday 19th May 2012. (Event Flier use this Link).

Mindful Employer - Richard Frost will talk about the benefits of being a Mindful Employer, some of the challenges that exist in transforming workplace culture and the ways that line managers and other staff can feel more confident and informed about the relevant issues. Well@Work at Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service representative Alison Williams will take you through how DSFRS are trying to promote wellbeing within a Service that has not traditionally talked about stress. New! ISMAUK LONDON Regional Group.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday 16th February 2012 commencing at 5.30 pm and finishing at 7.30 pm. It is envisaged that light refreshments will be provided, registration and an opportunity to network will begin at 5.00 pm. The meeting will be held in central London and will be kindly hosted by City of London Corporation (exact address to be confirmed).
For this second ISMAUK meeting, there are two expert speakers; Ann McCracken (Chair of ISMAUK), talking about presenteesim versus absenteeism and Peter Kelly, Psychologist (HSE), talking about the business case for health and wellbeing. Again, attendance will be by booking only. Places will be awarded on a first come first service basis.

New! ISMAUK North West Regional Group.
The next meeting of the ISMAUK North West area will take place on Friday 16th March 2012 at Room Four Conference Venue, 58 Legh Street, Golborne, Warrington, Cheshire. WA3 3PA. Use the following link for exact details of the event.
The four speakers on the day will be Mike Hannon, Senior Occupational Safety & Health Adviser, Stockport Council and Liz Sharrocks, Employee Engagement Advisor, Places for People, who will present a practical session based on their experiences of working with private service providers. Carol Johnson, Director of Services, HealthCV, describes how health checks, such as measuring body composition and metabolic age, can support employee wellbeing and Joan Corcoran, stress management practitioner, occupational therapist and person centred counsellor will share her understanding on the Physiology of stress.

Ann McCracken (Chair ISMAUK) presented on 'The Science behind the Mind Body Connection'.
Alice Muir presented on 'Changes and reflections of stress - A look back at 30 years of stress management in Scotland'. Joan Sumner presented on "experience of Work related Stress".

ISMA West Area

Saturday 2nd April 2011.
The West area met at The Cleve Hotel and Spa in Wellington. The theme was Mediation and EFT as Stress Management Techniques. The speakers were Vivienne Carnt who spoke about Mediation and Chris Clarke who spoke about Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

9th October 2010
The West Area met in Taunton on Saturday 9th October 2010. The theme of the meeting was "Is it all in the Mind". The speakers were Katie Porkess, who used a questionnaire based system to gauge reactions and emotions about life situations, and Ann McCracken, Chair of ISMAUK, who summarised current research linking endocrine secretions with physiological and psychological reactions.
