Hull

Shoppers are invited to take part in an en masse Tai Chi event for National Stress Awareness Day at Princes Quay Shopping Centre (Harbour Deck), Hull, Hu1 2PQ, From 12.30pm until 1.15pm on Wednesday 2nd November.

Hull shopping centre Princes Quay could be renamed Princes Chi for the day as shoppers participate in an en masse de-stress and relaxation event ahead of the Christmas shopping rush.  On National Stress Awareness Day (2nd November) shoppers are invited to join staff at Princes Quay from 12.30pm to take part in a large scale Tai Chi and Chinese head massage event to help prepare for one of the most stressful times of the year.  No experience is needed and shoppers can take part in the soft martial art from 5 minutes to 45 minutes as one of the region’s leading demonstrators will guide the group through the slow movements that help to bring a state of mental calm and clarity to many thousands of people around the world on a daily basis.  According to recent research, stress levels amongst UK adults have doubled in four years* while further studies have also shown that Christmas shopping increases blood pressure in 50 per cent of shoppers and heart rates rise by an average of 10 per cent.
Throughout the event, fully qualified instructors will also be on hand to provide traditional Chinese head massage whilst soothing music will help to calm the senses. Tony Wilkes, centre manager for Princes Quay Shopping Centre, said: “The lead-up to the festive period is undoubtedly the busiest time for both shoppers and staff and National Stress Awareness Day is the perfect opportunity to embrace some relaxation techniques when successfully securing this year’s must have gift for loved ones.”
