The following is a list of venues which will be running for National Stress Awareness Day on November 7th 2012.   More are being added all the time, so please keep checking back for updates.

NSAD 2012 EVENTS

Date & Time: 7th November 9.15am  - 12. 30pm

Venue: New Cross Gate Trust, Besson Community Gardens, London SE14 5AE

What’s on offer: A FREE introductory session where parents and carers can learn vital skills on handling stress and sign up for the ‘STRESS PROOF YOUR KIDS’ course. This is a safe and professional course for parents & carers to build strategies to help their children cope with stresses, challenges and fears.

Who will be running it: Josephine O’Gorman, an experienced, qualified, and registered Stress Management & Trauma Resolution Practitioner (see below). The course is sponsored by Deptford & New Cross Choose Health Fund.

Who can take part: London Borough of Lewisham Residents (especially Deptford & New Cross).  Booking is essential.

Josephine O’Gorman MSc BA (Hons) DHt MNCHM RSHom SEP PGCert (HE)   is a Registered Practitioner in Somatic Experiencing (SEP) with over 26 years’ clinical experience of working with adult and childhood trauma.  She has had an established career in the Health & Personal Social Services and Higher Education.  In addition to her busy practice, she is currently delivering the first “Stress Proof Your Kids” programme in South East London and provides SE sensitively adapted for people with learning disabilities. She also works onsite with individuals and teams in private and public organisations (e.g. NHS, FE & HE, Legal Centres) to redress the effects of stress and trauma in the workplace.  She was awarded the NHS Alliance award for integrated healthcare and the joint Queen’s Nursing Institute/Department of Health and Social Care Award for innovative and creative work with refugees and asylum seekers.  She presents widely including the Barcelona International Forum for Cultural Diversity, Sustainable Development and Conditions for Peace, the European CREA conference on Creativity, Innovation and Leadership on Somatic Intelligence and the International Stress Management Association Annual Conference.  She is the National Chair of the Somatic Experiencing Association in the UK (SEAUK).
